They longed for a pastor who could speak and preach to them in Foochow and God answered their prayers as Rev. Ling Chin Mee was appointed the first pastor, with which the Foochow Methodist Church came into being 1897.
For the first forty years from 1897 to 1937, the 100-odd worshippers of Foochow Methodist Church met in borrowed premises -initially in the little church building at Middle Road and later moving to ACS building at Coleman Street and to Tamil Methodist Church at Short Street. This period was filled with hardships and it was only through faith, patience and obedience to the Lord that the Church held firm.
1987 - The Church purchased the three-storey apartment block next door and converted it for use as her
1993 - Plans were made to expand and renovate the main church building and construct a three-storey link building to connect the main building with the Christian Education Center. This was completed in early 1995.
2001 – Demolition and reconstruction of the
2006 – Foochow Methodist Church unveils its Vision for the next 5 years and also made a covenant with God “Reaching People, Exalting Christ”
2007 – Foochow Methodist Church reaches milestone of 110 years.
